How to Convert LRC to SRT in 4 Steps

LRC files timestamp when each line starts; SRT needs a start and an end. The converter closes that gap with one rule — every line ends when the next begins — plus one setting you control.

  1. 1

    Load your LRC file

Upload the .lrc or paste its contents. The LRC to SRT parser reads every [mm:ss.xx] tag, including multiple tags on a single line, and skips [ar:], [ti:] and other metadata.

  2. 2

    Set the last line duration

The final lyric has no following line, so the LRC to SRT converter gives it your chosen duration — 3 seconds by default, adjustable from 0.5 to 10 seconds.

  3. 3

Apply offset if the file asks

If the LRC declares [offset:…], enable Apply LRC offset to shift all lines; anything that would start before zero is clamped to 0 with a warning.

  4. 4

    Download the SRT

Check the cue preview — count, order and timing — then download the .srt and drop it next to your audio or video, exactly like any subtitle from an LRC to SRT conversion.

How the LRC to SRT Conversion Handles Timing

LRC was designed for scrolling lyrics, not subtitles: each [00:12.30] tag marks a start, and the line simply scrolls on. To produce SRT, the LRC to SRT converter must invent end times, and it does so transparently: line N ends when line N+1 starts, which is exactly how karaoke displays behave.

Edge cases are handled explicitly. Two lines sharing the same start time each receive the fallback duration instead of a zero-length cue, so no LRC to SRT output ever contains end-before-start timing. Enhanced word-level tags like <00:12.30> are stripped with a warning, because SRT has no per-word highlighting.

Multi-tag lines expand

A line tagged [00:10.00][00:45.00]Chorus becomes two cues — the same line repeating, just like LRC players show it after LRC to SRT conversion.

Metadata kept out

[ar:], [ti:], [al:] and friends describe the song, not the lyrics; the LRC to SRT tool reports them as found and leaves them out of the subtitles.

Offset honored safely

[offset:] shifts lines earlier or later per the LRC convention, clamped at zero so an LRC to SRT export never produces negative timecodes.

Sorted output

Cues are sorted by start time in the final SRT no matter how the LRC ordered its lines, satisfying strict players.

LRC to SRT by Example

This mini lyric file shows every rule at once: metadata, a shared start, and a trailing line whose end comes from the last-line duration setting.

Input .lrc → what the LRC to SRT converter produces

input.lrc
[ar:Example Artist]
[00:03.20]Hello
[00:05.00]World
[00:05.00]World (echo)

output.srt (last line = 3.0 s)
1
00:00:03,200 --> 00:00:05,000
Hello

2
00:00:05,000 --> 00:00:08,000
World (echo)

Why the first cue ends at 5.000

Hello starts at 3.200 and the next line starts at 5.000, so the LRC to SRT conversion ends it there — the audience should see World by then. The overlap-free chain continues through the whole file.

Same-start lines

When two lines begin at the same moment, the fallback duration applies to the earlier one, and a warning tells you exactly how it was resolved. You can then retag the LRC or accept the LRC to SRT default.

The final line

The last lyric runs for the duration you set. For slow ballads pick 5–8 seconds; for fast rap 1.5–2 seconds keeps the LRC to SRT result from lingering over silence.

Where LRC to SRT Conversions Are Actually Used

Music videos with lyric subtitles are the obvious case: producers receive .lrc files from lyricists and need .srt for editors like Premiere or DaVinci. Language learners convert LRC to SRT to watch music videos with line-by-line subtitles on any player instead of a dedicated lyrics app.

Podcasters and karaoke hosts use the same path — an LRC to SRT pass turns prepared cue sheets into universal subtitles. And because the conversion is local, none of those lyric files, licensed or unreleased, ever leave the machine.
